ANNE KERUBO

Project Coordinator - Community Outreach

“My most unique attribute is passion. I believe without passion for what I am doing it is not possible to perform my job. I am a passionate caregiver and I like to help people out when they need me.”

Anne is KIKOP’s Community Support Supervisor. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Makerere University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health. She has experience in child rehabilitation, HIV/AIDS testing, malaria alleviation, and autism awareness. Kerubo says that, “Since childhood I have been drawn to community activities and with time sensed my passion of working for the community.” She is looking forward to work in a dynamic and challenging environment that will enable her to utilize her strength in interpersonal skills. She enjoys working with women and children and finds it rewarding to know that her work has reduced maternal and child deaths.

JONES ORINA NYAEGA

Project Accountant

“We are building a future by helping the women and the children. Our tomorrow is guaranteed once we help the children and the women.”

Jones is the Project Accountant at KIKOP. With extensive experience in accounting, particularly within charity organizations, Jones performs responsibilities such as making payments for project activities, safeguarding cheques, and ensuring that funds are utilized effectively to meet project requirements. Jones is deeply passionate about KIKOP's mission, which focuses on supporting children, mothers, and disadvantaged community members. His dedication to helping these groups is a driving force behind his work at KIKOP. Jones appreciates the enthusiastic and supportive environment at KIKOP, and also values the opportunity to work with community promoters and volunteers who are committed to making a positive impact.

ROBINSON ARASA

Nurse at Nyagoto Dispensary

“I most enjoy working with care groups and educating the pregnant mothers and those who have delivered.”

Robinson is one of KIKOP’s nurses at Nyagoto Dispensary. He attended primary school at Riverbank Academy and received his secondary education at Senior Chief Kegati to become a Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse. He was volunteering at KIKOP’s Nyagoto Dispensary when a nightshift opportunity to work for KIKOP became available. Since starting work a year ago, he has noticed an increase in the number of women coming in for delivery services which demonstrates KIKOP’s effective work and mission to provide increased access to care. He describes himself as a kind, hardworking nurse dedicated to saving mothers lives. Robinson’s career goals include continuing to assist mothers during maternity by offering medical services, home based care, and education for mothers and their young children.

KAREN KWAMBOKA NYAMWEMBE

Nurse at Matongo Health Center

"Thanks to KIKOP, night duty and safe deliveries at Matongo are now possible, greatly reducing risks associated with home deliveries, ensuring mothers receive the prenatal care they need."

Karen is a dedicated Nursing Officer stationed at Matongo Health Center. She has extensive experience working night shifts and received her nursing training from Kenya Medical Training College. Her commitment to nursing is driven by her desire to serve humanity and improve healthcare outcomes for vulnerable populations. Karen is passionate about maternal health and collaborates with CHVs to provide continuous support and care to mothers and infants, ensuring essential care under challenging conditions by monitoring labor, conducting deliveries, and providing postnatal care. Karen joined KIKOP to expand her impact and work within a community-focused organization. Through her work with KIKOP, she hopes to enhance community health and well-being, particularly in remote areas. She looks forward to future collaborations that will further KIKOP's mission of health advocacy and education, believing that prevention and continuous care are key to a healthier future.

SARAH NYANCHAMA

Nurse at Nyagoto Dispensary

"I urge for the continuation of our programs to help more people […] ensuring they receive essential services. Continued support and additional resources will enhance our work."

Sarah is a dedicated Nursing Officer at Nyagoto Dispensary with a nursing degree from St. Clair's Kaplong School of Nursing in Bomet County. She works night shifts, conducting deliveries, offering health talks to pregnant women, and caring for newborns. Passionate about nursing, her goal is to assist pregnant women with limited healthcare access and improve maternal health in underserved communities. Sarah joined KIKOP to expand her impact through international collaborations and work within a community-focused organization. Through her work with KIKOP, Sarah looks forward to serving her community in Nyagoto, especially pregnant women, to decrease maternal mortality rates.

COLETTE GERUBO

HIV HTS Provider

“Let's support each other and every individual. There is no stigma or discrimination in this; we should be inclusive and supportive.”

Colette is an HIV HTS Provider at KIKOP's Oresi Health Centre. With a professional background as a social worker and specialized training in HIV testing, she joined KIKOP to contribute her experience and positively impact her community. Having volunteered at KIKOP for over two months, she is dedicated to mobilizing and educating adolescents and young people about HIV prevention and support. Through her work, Colette encourages young people to participate fully and know their HIV status. She looks forward to KIKOP continuing to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for young people, as she believes that eliminating stigma and discrimination is key to a healthier future for all.

SIOCHA JUDITH NYANGIA

HIV HTS Provider

“KIKOP is a good project because, through these services, young mothers are able to learn more. And I think we should always be ready to work for society.”

Siocha works as an HIV HTS Provider at KIKOP, stationed at Mosocho Market Dispensary. She brings a wealth of expertise to her role, having studied psychology, sociology, and gender and development studies in her undergraduate program and completed training in HIV testing and gender-based violence counseling. Her journey with KIKOP began after volunteering at the Mosocho Market Dispensary, which led her to join the initiative. At KIKOP, Siocha assesses the clients' eligibility for testing, conducts HIV testing, and provides counseling and referrals to patient support centers for those who test positive. She is passionate about counseling and supporting those affected by HIV and is dedicated to educating young people about HIV prevention and support. She continuously seeks to enhance her skills and contribute to community development. Siocha expresses her gratitude for the opportunity to work with KIKOP, which allowed her to grow and make a positive difference. She believes that facing challenges with a positive attitude is crucial to creating a lasting impact.

WYCLIFFE MOTHAROKI UTENI

Field Officer at KIKOP

“KIKOP is an organization that has significantly improved community facilities and provided essential health education to mothers and community health promoters.”

Wycliffe is a dedicated Field Officer at the Kisii Konya Oroibo Project (KIKOP). With a background in social work and hands-on experience in various children's homes, Wycliffe is deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of the communities he serves. His role involves conducting routine home visits with Community Health Volunteers (CHVs), collecting and reviewing data, and holding meetings to assess the progress of various projects. He has been a part of KIKOP for one and a half years and finds immense satisfaction in his work. Wycliffe is particularly enthusiastic about the project's contributions to community health education and the positive impact it has on mothers and children. He believes that the key to success in his role is a combination of skills, experience, and a genuine passion for community service. Looking forward, Wycliffe hopes that KIKOP will continue its vital work, further enhancing the health and well-being of the community.
